China is an Eastern Asian country and roughly the same size as the United States of America. The area of china is vast, but it can be divided into the following regions:
North east: Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Dongbei.
North: Shangdong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin. This is also knowna s the yellow basin area and is the historical heartland of China.
North-West: Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinijang, grasslands and deserts.
South-west: Tibet, Yunnan, Guangxi, Guizhou. This is the mos exotic part of China, being the home of most Chinese minorities and spectacular scenery.

Southern-central: Anhui, Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi. These are the farming areas of china.
South-east: Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian. It is the traditional trading center.
East: Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang. The new economic center of China.
China is bordered on the coasts by the East China sea, Korea Bay, Yellow Sea and South China Sea. China also borders Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam to the South, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to the West; Russia and Mongolia to the North and North Korea to the East.
There are many large and famous cities in China. Some of the most important cities in China are:
Beijing: It is the capital city of China and is slated to be the host city of the 2008 Olympics.
Guangzhou: It is one the most prosperous and liberal cities of China.
Guilin: It is a popular tourist destination for both, Chinese and foreigners.
Hangzhou: It is the former capital of China. It is famous as a beautiful city and is the center of the silk industry of China.
Kunming: The capital of Yunnan
Nanjing: It is a city with many historical relics.
Shanghai: The largest city of China, it is a famous commercial center.
Suzhou: it is well known for its gardens and canals and is known as the Venice of the east.
Xi'an: It is a former capital city.
Each of the cities have interesting historical significance and are popular tourist destinations.
